The Stroud Building Society has been acquisitioned by a number of other building societies and in 2010 it was taken over by the Coventry Building Society. We would love to hear from anyone within the past or current banking groups if they know anything about the whereabouts of this mural. The yellow marker is loosely placed on Stroud as we don't have any details about the exact location of where this mural was.

Token Coinage of StroudToken Coinage of Stroud

The town of Stroud in Gloucestershire has a proud manufacturing tradition with many small mills and factories operating in the area throughout the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries. Many of these buildings still exist although few if any are still in production. Trade tokens were issued by several of these manufacturers as small change with which to pay their employees when there was a national shortage of small coinage. We took a number of these tokens and with out flexible mould process were able to make copies of each design. The resulting panel formed a rhythmic pattern of roundels which on examination reflected the town’s interesting history.
