MURALWATCH - do you have any information about this missing mural?
This mural was commissioned along with the East India Company Crest Cartouches but this was removed and we presumed destroyed but we would like confirmation of its fate.
Standard Life commissioned a further piece for Cutlers Gardens. This was to be a larger panel and the client asked for something representing the four seasons. Four images – a bird, poppies with corn, butterflies with brambles and an owl are incorporated into a cartouche based on eighteenth century designs. Engraved lettering labels the different seasons. As in the number cartouches, we limited the glazes to gold, oxides and lustres. Recently the ownership of this development changed and the mural has been removed due to the policy of the new management. Presently its whereabouts is unknown.
