MURALWATCH - do you have any information about this missing mural?
We would love to hear from anyone connected with UDC who may know something about what happened to this mural.
UDC commissioned us to make this ceramic crest and the panel was to reach from floor to ceiling. I was given a reference from which to work, which was printed on the back of a small match box! The simple golden coins which represent UDC’s association with money were glazed with a form of real gold, fired on to the ceramic at 800°C. This mural was to go indoors, so we were able to mount these with other heraldic symbols onto a shield made up of painted wood. With the rampant lion and flowing ragging surmounting the shield it made an impressive mural. We also designed a series of repeating panels based on the company’s crest to go on the walls of the staff dining room. Recently the company left the Cornhill premises and I have not been able to establish the present whereabouts of the crest mural. We would be delighted to hear from anyone who may know the whereabouts of this mural.
